Tech Rider & AV Requirements

Ensuring a seamless in-person experience for your audience

When you book Mark Preston for an in-person event, you can expect a session that runs smoothly, connects with the audience, and leaves them with practical, founder-focused takeaways they can put into action immediately. This page outlines the technical setup that helps make that happen - giving your AV and events team everything they need well in advance.

Microphone Preference

  • Primary: Wireless headset or lapel (clip-on) microphone - for freedom to move and consistent sound quality.

  • Backup: Handheld wireless microphone available on stage as a standby.

Visuals & Presentation

  • Slides: Delivered in 16:9 widescreen format (PowerPoint or PDF).

  • Delivery: Slides provided in advance via email and USB backup on the day.

  • Clicker: Wireless presentation clicker with forward/backward functions.

  • Confidence Monitor: Preferred for seeing current slide, next slide, and speaker notes without turning away from the audience.

Stage & Lighting

  • Well-lit stage area (suitable for photography/video capture if required).

  • No podium (unless specifically requested for certain events as Mark is not the tallest speaker around at 5' 4" tall).

  • Clear space for movement and audience engagement.

Audio & Playback

  • Quality sound system for clear voice projection throughout the venue.

  • Audio connection to the AV desk if playing any short videos or sound bites.

  • Option for music playback during entry/exit if desired by the organiser.

On-Site AV Team Coordination

  • Pre-event tech check with AV crew before the session begins.

  • Event organiser or AV lead available for any last-minute adjustments.

Recording & Photography

  • Recording is permitted (with organiser’s confirmation) for promotional or internal purposes.

  • If the event is recorded or photographed, organiser agrees to share copies for potential use in Mark’s speaker reel or marketing (where applicable).

What Mark Will Provide

  • All presentation files in advance.

  • Backup USB containing all slides.

  • Clear communication with your event team pre-event and on-site.

Summary

The goal is simple: no surprises, no technical stress, and no distractions from delivering the kind of founder-focused talk your audience will remember. By confirming these AV preferences ahead of time, we ensure the session runs exactly as planned - from first word to final takeaway.
